It has a low acid value, minimal ash content, and exhibits good thermal stability, compatibility, tackifying properties, light stability, water resistance, and resistance to acids and alkalis.

It is primarily used as an additive in industries such as paint, rubber, adhesives, inks, vinyl flooring, and colored asphalt.
